Senior Control System Engineer

About the Role 

Dimensional Energy, a leader in the production of sustainable fuels and other chemicals from carbon dioxide, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, experienced Control Systems Engineer. This role will be in charge of upgrading current designs and implementing new control systems. If you are experienced in managing projects, have significant engineering experience, are passionate about combatting climate change, and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment, please consider joining our team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other plant systems. 
  • Install and configure DCS/PLC network hardware, software and peripheral equipment.
  • Write and optimize control logic for the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) 
  • Collaborate with process engineers to fine-tune control algorithms.  
  • Develop an automation and instrumentation strategy to drive process improvements and manage relationships with DCS vendor and 3rd party programmers. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all DCS, SIS and PLC systems including logic diagrams, logic narratives, SIL verification calculations, safety requirement specifications, and application software. 
  • Identify, develop, and optimize new control schemes to increase process safety, operability, and plant profitability  
  • Develop control system component specifications; review and approve Vendor offerings.  
  • Perform loop testing and fine-tune control parameters to optimize plant performance. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to process control. 
  • Provide training for operations and maintenance teams on control system functionality and troubleshooting. 
  • Ensure that control systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. 
  • Participate in safety reviews and audits to identify and address potential risks. 
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities for new facilities. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience. 
  • Ten years professional experience with systems engineering 
  • Proficient with general coding, python, canary lab, general networking.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley control systems preferred  
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all other parties. 
  • Experience with project management and debottlenecking. 
  • Strong technical background in system engineering principles and best practices. 
  • Willing to be based at the location of any given project as needed. 
  • Preferred locations: Tucson, AZ or Houston, TX.  
  • Eligibility to work in the United States. 

Pay and Benefits 

  • The salary range for this position is $120,000-160,000 depending on market, skills, and experience.
